Integrated Setup Tools for Easier Deployment: RTMS Echo’s integrated Wi-Fi, virtual aiming tools, and browser-based setup make it easier to configure than competing radar systems, improving deployment efficiency and reducing complexity.

More Accurate Speed and Timestamp Data: With enhanced speed detection and timestamp capabilities, RTMS Echo outperforms other systems, providing more detailed traffic analysis for improved decision-making.

Benefits of RTMS Echo

Data You Can Trust: RTMS Echo provides data that traffic professionals can rely on, offering verified accuracy with advanced detection and monitoring capabilities.

Safe and Easy Installation: RTMS Echo is designed for easy installation, often requiring just one person for deployment. No lane closures mean minimal disruption to traffic flow during setup.

Complete Traffic Data with Fewer Devices : The system’s ability to cover up to 12 lanes per device means fewer devices are needed to gather comprehensive traffic data, reducing costs and complexity.

Cost-Effective Solution for Modern Traffic Management : As a cost-effective alternative to inductive loops, RTMS Echo provides the tools necessary for effective traffic management without unnecessary expenses.

Radar for 21st Century Traffic Applications

The RTMS Echo is part of Sensys Networks’ comprehensive suite of accurate traffic detection solutions, designed to enhance traffic safety and ease congestion through premium accuracy detection.

The RTMS Echo accurately identifies and tracks individual vehicles across up to 12 lanes per device, providing reliable data essential for monitoring traffic flow, identifying congestion hotspots, predicting future traffic conditions, and implementing effective traffic management strategies.

The system features pole-mounted side-fire radar units that are quick to install, minimizing disruptions to traffic flow during deployment. It includes built-in aiming guidance and integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing configuration via computer, tablet, or smartphone without the need for speed calibration.

RTMS Echo can be accessed remotely through a browser-based interface, enabling traffic engineers to manage the system from any location. An optional camera provides visual verification where needed.

A single RTMS Echo radar can monitor up to 12 detection zones up to 250 feet away, offering comprehensive traffic data, including vehicle counts, speeds, classifications, travel times, and vehicle dwell times.

Frequently Asked Questions

RTMS

  • Can the Echo detect cars hidden behind larger vehicles like trucks?

Yes, the Echo can detect vehicles that are occluded by trucks using a phenomenon called diffraction. Radar signals can scatter when they pass the edge of a truck trailer, and depending on the material of the truck (e.g., glass or lightweight cargo areas), signals may even permeate the trailer and detect hidden vehicles.

  • Does the Echo support bi-directional traffic detection?

Absolutely. The Echo can detect traffic moving in both directions across up to 12 lanes, with a detection range of 250 feet.

  • Can the Echo detect vehicles around barriers?

Yes, the Echo’s high-resolution capabilities enable it to detect vehicles even when partially obscured by barriers. As long as 50% of a vehicle is visible to the detector, the Echo can provide accurate counts, speed, occupancy, and length values.

  • What is the maximum cable distance supported by the Echo?

The Echo is shipped with 50 feet of Cat5e cable. However, cable runs can extend up to 328 feet before requiring extenders.

  • What is the Echo’s power consumption?

With all features enabled, the Echo draws 7.3 watts. In power-saving mode, this can be reduced to 6.8 watts.

  • Does the Echo support forward-fire detection?

No, the Echo uses FMCW radar, which enables perpendicular detection of up to 12 lanes, but it does not support Doppler radar-based forward-fire detection.

  • Can the Echo be used for intersection stop bar detection?

The Echo is not designed for stop bar detection. For this type of application, we recommend our FlexMag3 wireless products.

  • What memory storage options does the Echo have?

The Echo features two memory storage components:

    •     Interval memory: Stores up to 120,000 interval messages, equivalent to over a year of data at 5-minute intervals.
    •     Per vehicle memory: Stores up to 1 million vehicle records. Both memory types can operate in either First-In-First-Out (FIFO) mode or stop recording once full.
  • Can the Echo detect motorcycles?

Most motorcycles can be detected by the Echo. However, smaller scooters may not be reliably detected, and a cluster of motorcycles traveling together might be registered as a single detection.

  • Can the Echo detect bicycles?

The Echo is not designed for bicycle detection. For this application, we recommend our FlexRadar wireless product.

  • How is RTMS Echo better than traditional inductive loops?

RTMS Echo is a cost-effective inductive loop replacement, providing greater accuracy, easy installation, and more extensive traffic data collection without requiring in-pavement cutting.

  • What are the advantages of RTMS Echo in ramp metering and traffic data collection?

RTMS Echo provides precise vehicle detection, making it ideal for ramp metering and traffic data collection. Its accuracy enhances traffic flow management and supports better decision-making.

  • Can RTMS Echo cover multiple lanes with one device?

Yes, RTMS Echo can monitor up to 12 lanes per device, offering a comprehensive traffic detection solution with fewer devices required.
