Citilog (a Sensys Networks brand) is here to preview a major expansion of its Automatic Incident Detection (AID) architecture with PTZ-Analytics – enabling the tens of thousands of PTZ traffic cameras already installed on North American roadways to be upgraded to always-on intelligent safety devices.

For over a decade, Citilog’s AID has been fully compatible with PTZ cameras that support preset positions. The new PTZ-Analytics feature now extends that capability to legacy traffic cameras that lack presets entirely – or deployments where position feedback is architecturally blocked.
The breakthrough is automatic, AI-based calibration. Standard AID requires a defined road surface “mask” tied to a known camera position. PTZ-Analytics eliminates that dependency by observing real-time traffic flow to dynamically infer the travelled roadway. In peak traffic conditions, this learning phase takes just a few minutes. Once operational, the camera detects stopped vehicles, pedestrians, and debris within the automatically generated zone. When an operator moves the camera, the system reinitialises and adapts to the new scene.
“The infrastructure is already there – poles, cameras, communications,” says Bill Weber, VP of sales. “This is a small software investment that puts that entire network to work for Vision Zero, identifying dangerous situations automatically and alerting operators so faster responses can save lives.”
